HOW TO COMMISSION A PORTRAIT
What you need to consider:
· Whether you would prefer a head study or a full body portrait
· Whether the portrait is of one or more animals. Multiple animals cost more and can only be portrayed in the larger format sizes.
· How best to provide me with information about what the animal looks like and the color of its fur and eyes
What I need before I start to work:
Before I start a commission I will need:
· You to confirm the agreed size and price.
· As much information about the animal as possible to help me produce the best possible portrait of your animal. I will definitely need a high resolution photograph (see below).
· A nonrefundable deposit of 30%.
Photographs:
I paint from the photos you send me. Digital images should be high resolution and may be emailed. Contact me for instructions on sending printed photographs.
Photos taken outdoors in natural light on a bright but slightly cloudy day or indoors near a large window with the sun behind you are best. Please don't use a flash as it tends to flatten out the image. And please don't use your cell phone camera.
The best photos are taken on the same level as your pet instead of from above. If you can't get down on the same level as your pet put them up on something. Get as close as you can to your pet, but don't cut off their ears.
Timeframe:
Please allow 4-6 weeks , depending on the complexity of your subject, for completion of your pet’s portrait.
